Week 3 Development

Menu page that includes the map, my car, settings and all the party features.

The party leader can choose where the party destination will be set, this is a mock up of the screen they will see when they go to choose the destination. It can be entered through the keyboard typing or through speaking to the app.

Two different mockups of the camera view of the road and the relationship between the map, settings and where the other party members are.

Mock ups of "my car". Means that you can upload a photo of your car and all the information about the car. This will also be a place for the user to choose a username.

Mock up of the parties in your area. This is connected to the party button on the home screen and allows the user to find parties in their area to join.

Week 2 Concept Development

We decided to focus on the GPS aspect of Roadie so that it could be used by anyone, not specific to any type of person.

The user/driver can choose which map view they feel more comfortable with, between a camera view with a overlay of a green line/arrows or the usual top down view that shows the route as a whole.

We wanted to concentrate on having safety features as an integrated part of the app. So that when the accelerometer on the phone is above a certain speed then the app is locked to one of the two map views so that the user cannot fiddle around with it, causing crashes.

We wanted the user to be able to to switch between the two map views using the least dangerous way, and we came to the realisation that using a wave to the left or right will be the easiest and least distracting way to achieve this.

Week 1 Concept

We started off our concept with the class activity. We went to a parking lot inside the university and identified the problem of parking and the payment machines. We found that an application would help with finding parks and paying for them when late to class, also topping up when away from the car.

We carried this concept on, running with the idea.
The Roadie idea emerged, an app that allows drivers to connect with others in a party to travel to a predetermined destination. Roadie gives directions via a view from the camera that has a green line/arrow overlaid to show which turns need to be taken. It allows you to create a party or join a party, this means that the user can view the others in the party on the road, seeing where they are and the information about their cars.
